

BEST 2.0 (Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services in European Overseas Territories) is a program that is funded by the European Commission (DG DEVCO) in the context of the B4Life Initiative, as a support to the Countries and European Overseas Territories localized in 7 regions of global importance. The program organizes a call for projects(small – 50k€ to 100k€ - and medium – 100k€ to 400k€ - subventions) to finance local and regional field actions aiming to promote biodiversity conservation, sustainable use of natural resources and ecosystemic services as well as adaptation to climate change and the mitigation of its effects.
The Europpean Commission has delegated the setting up of this funding mechanism to a consortium that is lead by the IUCN and composed of a network of partner organisms that are settled in each of the 7 identified regions to accompany and support the selected project leaders Since 2015, the SPAW-RAC is responsible for the Caribbean Region.
