Marine mammals are protected species in many countries and through international regulations, especially in the Greater Caribbean Region, since they are all protected under Annex II of the SPAW protocol. Benefiting from a positive representation from the general public and facilitating the mobilization in favor of the protection of its habitat, marine mammals are species known as standard bearers of conservation. In addition, due to their trophic level, their requirements and their large home range, the protection of marine mammals can protect a whole range of species and marine life in general.
