A call for small grants for short-term projects is open until May 20, 2025, by the Regional Activity Centre for the Specially Protected Areas and Wildlife Protocol of the Wider Caribbean Region (SPAW-RAC).
The main objective of this call for projects is promoting concrete actions for the conservation of biodiversity in the territories of the Wider Caribbean Region and to promote the implementation of the Specially Protected Areas and Wildlife (SPAW) protocol of the Cartagena Convention.
The specific objectives are to provide financial support, in full or through co-financing, for actions aimed at:
– effectively improve the conservation status of threatened species in the Caribbean region, especially those listed in the annexes of the SPAW Protocol;
– Generate information to enable civil society actors to improve the implementation of protected area management plans and management measures for threatened species (with priority to SPAW protected areas and listed species);
– Implement actions for the restoration of ecosystems or populations in priority within protected areas listed in the SPAW Protocol.
Due to a limited budget, the number of projects funded will unfortunately be more limited for this call for projects 2025. Priority will be given to projects structuring for territories and biodiversity, as well as projects focused on regional cooperation focus and/or innovative actions.
Particular attention will be given to projects implemented in the territories of the Contracting Parties of the SPAW Protocol and/or territories that do not easily benefit from traditional funding.
